We are excited to announce a new Platform Academy as part of our CT Early Childhood Professional Development Platform, which looks to strengthen the functions of early childhood, specifically Family Child Care (FCC) and Infant and Toddler (I/T) Care.
Inspiring Children’s Curiosity and Creativity Through Loose Parts Play
with Kimberly Mansfield, Co-President, CTAEYC and Director, Children’s Learning Center at Mitchell College
and Martina N. Bottinelli, Children’s Learning Center at Mitchell College
An interactive workshop for parents, family childcare providers, and early childhood educators. Loose parts are materials found in nature and manufactured items that encourage young children to discover their curiosity and creativity through imaginative play. Participants will explore the practical reasons behind loose parts play and a child-directed approach learning. Participants will learn how to use open-ended materials to create learning invitations for young children that promote literacy, math, science, and problem solving skills, while inspiring inquiry, discovery, and creativity. All participants enrolled in our CT Early Childhood Professional Development Platform will leave with a loose parts starter kit!
Saturday, March 23, from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm
